Commercial flue lining Devon
The problem faced here was that the 2 chimneys at the 3 Crowns were unstable, with inadequate thermal insulation between the flue and thatch. One flue served a large inglenook, and the other was to have a solid fuel stove installed.
It was decided that the best way to solve the problem was to install 11 inch Thermocrete refractory liners, which stabilized the structure, and left the flues able to serve open fires. This left options open for future use. The large inglenook was left as an open fire. Greystone chimneys supplied and installed a Hunter low output inglenook stove in the snug bar served by a 6” Furanflex RWV flue inside the Thermocrete liner. Both installations were covered by Thermocrete and Furanflex’s 25 year guarantees and now conform to Document J of the building regulations.
